Reusable questions

Saving a question once to use it everywhere, and how the two kinds of preset differ.

2 minute read

You ask the same questions across several services. A field preset saves you retyping them.

There are two kinds, and they do not behave the same way. That is the one thing to take from this page.

Form presets

These are questions ready to drop into a form. You pick one in the builder, and it is copied into your service.

Copied, so: editing it afterwards changes that service only. And editing the preset changes nothing about what has already been inserted, let alone about a brief already sent.

The quickest way to create one is not the presets page: it is the "save as preset" button on a question you have just built. You get it right once, in a real service, and you keep it.

Client record columns

These are the things you keep about your clients rather than in a form: a company number, an Instagram handle, an internal note.

These are read live. Adding one makes it appear immediately on every client record, including the ones created last year.

That is the exact opposite of a form preset, and it is deliberate: a form already sent must never change, a client record must always be current.

What you start with

Depending on the trade you ticked during setup, your studio arrives with presets already written. They are real rows rather than locked examples: edit them, rename them, delete them.

When to create one

When you have written the same question a third time. Before that it is not a habit yet, it is a coincidence.
