Choosing how you are told
The bell, the email, and what you can silence. A setting that is yours and follows you into every studio you work in.

Kalepio tells you things in two ways: inside the application, and by email. This page is only about the second, because it is the only one you set.
The bell keeps everything, always
The notification centre behind the bell at the top of the screen receives everything that concerns you, whatever your settings. There is nothing to switch on and nothing that can leave it.
That matters before you change anything here: turning an email off loses you nothing. The news will be in the bell next time you sign in. What you are switching off is the interruption, not the information.
Email, type by type
Settings → Notifications. One row per kind of news, one switch per row: do you also want it by email.
It is the only one of the two that leaves the application to interrupt a day spent elsewhere, which is exactly why it is the only one you can set.
What you will find there:
- New brief received, and Answer received for later rounds. These are two different pieces of news: the first starts a job, the second unblocks one already running.
- Payment received, whether it came through Stripe or a colleague ticked it off by hand.
- New message, when a client has written and nobody in the studio has read it.
A message is not emailed straight away
This is the detail that explains the behaviour you will notice, and it is deliberate.
A client's message only triggers an email if it stays unread for a few minutes. If you have the order open when they write, you watch it arrive and no email goes out. If you are elsewhere, the email follows shortly after.
Which means you are never emailed about something you are in the middle of reading. It is also why there is no frequency setting: reading does that job.
And several messages in a row make one email, not three.
This setting is yours
It follows your account, not the studio. You can work in three studios with the same preferences, and your colleague can have their own in the studio you share.
What you cannot switch off, and why
Four kinds of news are absent from this page. They are not missing by oversight: they cannot be set, and a greyed-out row with an explanation beside it would have been worse than no row.
- Your studio is over its plan, Your access is ending and Your access has ended. These are the only news somebody losing access to a studio still needs. If they could be silenced, you would stop being told the reason you can no longer get in.
- Welcome to Kalepio, which goes out about fifteen minutes after your address is verified. Nobody can have set anything before it leaves, so offering a switch that could not take effect would have served no purpose.
A setting never opens a door
Your preferences decide how you are told, never what about. What you are allowed to see is decided separately, by your permissions in the studio.
The practical consequence: ticking a box will never bring you news about an order you are not allowed to open. A preference can only ever take a delivery away, never add one.
Telling a whole team
If what you want is for the team to see the news in one place rather than each in their own inbox, this is not the page: that is a Discord or Slack room wired into the studio. See the studio's notification rooms.
